Reusable sanitary pads giveaway!
We’re having a series of women’s health & sexual health themed posts this week in honour of International Women’s Day today – with related green giveaways. Free stuff rocks and green free stuff rocks even harder!
The wonderful Rachael at Moon Times has given us some ace washable sanitary pads to give away.
The average woman uses more than 12,000 disposable sanitary products during her lifetime – so much waste! Washable pads are a very easy way to move away from disposable items – ideal for existing towel users, young girls just starting their periods or women who want the protection of a panty liner while using other sanitary products.
Moon Times pads lovingly handmade in the UK, from super-soft organic cotton so they won’t feel like they’re sawing your leg off like the plastic winged ones can do sometimes. Properly cared for, they can last for years and years – think of both the waste and cost saving!
Want to win these great pads? Just leave a message below before noon (GMT) on Friday 12th March and I’ll use a random number generator to pick a winner. Just saying “hi!” or “pick me!” is fine – or tell us about your experiences with washable pads if you’ve already tried them.
Oh, and don’t forget to include an email address in the email address field – it’s hidden so won’t appear on the website but means I can contact you if you win!
(Quick update just to say I’m happy to send them to anywhere.)
UPDATE – 12pm Friday 12th March 2010:
Entries are now closed and our lucky winner is comment 41 – congratulations Michele P! I’ll be in touch soon to get your address details.
For the rest of you, don’t forget you can buy your own washable pads from Moon Times – or if you’re crafty, make your own by upcycling waste fabric from around the home.
Thanks for the great comments by everyone who entered and thanks again to Rachael at Moon Times for donating the pads! :)
Laughing out loud at your “saw your leg off” comment. I’d love to have some of these :)
I’ve thought about trying these over the last couple of years but never got around to doing anything about it – winning some would be a great way to get started!
I’m in! :D
I already use a reusable cup and I’d love some proper reusable pads to back it up. I made a couple of super simple round arctic fleese pantyliners that close with a bit of self stick velcro. No sew! Of course, they don’t fit fantastic or anything, but they sure are soft! I’d love a chance at some proper cloth pads|.
I’ve wanted to try these for some time, but haven’t made the leap yet. Thanks!
Pick me!
These look great! Been thinking about trying them–have even collected some old t-shirts to try and make some of my own. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have been making changes in my life to go as green as I can but have not been able to make the jump to disposable female products. I am curious.
I also use a cup, but it would be nice to replace panty liners when needed. The glue on the store bought ones gives me the creeps.
Oo, yes please! I already use a cup too but haven’t switched from other disposable products. It would be great to win some. Thanks for a great competition.
What a great give away! Thanks!
ooh, me please!
Please. I have been looking into these recently and they sound great.
Great idea. They should give these away in that talk you get in primary school! So… I’m in :)
I do offer talks in schools and have been known to send ‘open minded’ schools some samples :)
To later for me, but daughter could use some.
Yup, up for these if I’m lucky enough to win!
about a few months now i been using some of my wash cloths nice and soft towel just a pain to wash. i use only when i am home. some of your’s give away will be great for whem i am going out of my home.
These would be GREAT ~ I’d been intending to make this leap, but haven’t had time to try to make any of my own. Plus, I’m a sewing failure. Much better to have some already made!
If you’d ship to a US winner, I’m in!
Please tell me you’ll ship to Canada! They would go great with my Keeper.
I already use some reusable pads and the Diva Cup and they’re great! I’d certainly love to have more! Plus, in addition to being reusable, they don’t have chemicals in them, which is why I switched to them in the first place. They’re much better for your body AND the earth!
Ive never even heard of reusable pads but i would sure love to try some!!!!! i would do anything to avoid using all those disposable pads and to save some money too :]
As a student studying environmental law, I must say that reusable sanitary pads are the best for ones body, as well as the environment!
Love them!
I have used washable nappies on all three of my girls…why not washable sanitary towels?!
Yes, please!
Great idea! Can they just go in the washing machine, or do they have to be soaked etc first?
oh. my. word. i need these! my husband and i travel for a living, and it’s often not possible to find a store when it’s *absolutely necessary :) please count me in!
please enter me :)
Please pick me.
I am so ready for these so tired of nasty wasteful pads and not keen on other methods.
Lol had to laugh about them sawing legs off, its so blooming unpleasant as well.
Pickmepickme!!!
I’ll scribble down the idea for making them anyway – great use for all the too-small and discoloured t-shirts I’ve got :)
I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile. I’d love to win these and get started.
I’d like to try…
I’d like to try it, if they’ll ship to the US!
Me please — I’d love to give them a try.
Great product idea!!! I would love to write about it on my newsletter, the LOOP or try putting it on my website (www.closetheloop.com) for you to help build the market, let me know! You’ve thought of something amazing here that I don’t think is anywhere in the US…fyi ~ First Nation mothers once collected the soft insides of milkweed to pack around their babies before strapping them into a papoose board ~ read more history at http://www.borntolove.com/history.html
Pick me!
I can’t stop, I’ve gone giveaway crazy!
But still, cool stuff.
thanx!
I want them! I have been dying to try these!
Think I should give these a try…
I got a reusable pad off Etsy to see if I liked it about a year ago. I just wanted to say that these are great… and I have been wanting to get more but just have not gotten around to it. I did have to get used to it at first, after wearing disposables so many years, but when I do wear the reusable one it is comfortable and easy to use.
Anything thats green and friendly is worth a try!
Count me in! Cheers :)
I’ve always been tempted to try something like this…
I’ve never used this brand, but I’m quite a fan of washable pads in general :)
Love my washable pads – wouldn’t go back to the scratchy alternative now!
Not used these ones though – would love to try them out! ;-)
